Unafraid of Goodbye

I’m in a sort of hammock position right now, and checking around I see that I am far from alone in this state. Kind of feels like being suspended between a rock and a Light place, rocking and rolling in winds that howl for change. Various physical and emotional challenges vie for attention. I endeavor to simply witness these as transient responses to shifting conditions, although sometimes it’s hard not to become concerned. When the following came under my nose today, it seemed universal enough to share. It’s my Daily Om horoscope, verbatim.  OM to all surfing the wild winds of change. Life goes on ~W

A sense that you are being called to begin a new phase of life may simultaneously excite and distress you today. As you muse upon what is to come, you may find that some of your relationships are not in line with the values you hope to cultivate in your existence. You may be troubled by this fact and tempted to hold on to these friendships and associations as tightly as you can. Yet relieving the tension you feel is likely simply a matter of accepting that much in this life passes through your life only temporarily. If you can bring yourself to consider the many benefits of this change of life today, you may find you are able to let go without feeling guilty.

When we understand that each of our relationships serves a different purpose in our lives, we can embrace those slated to be fleeting as passionately as those we expect will last forever. Many people are troubled by the dissolution of those connections they have grown to appreciate. Yet the ending of a relationship does not devalue the bond we shared or negate the positive effect that link had on us. If we accept this type of closure as natural, we need not feel anxious at the thought of moving forward on our own. We can honor the relationship for the unique role it played in our personal growth and remember it fondly for the rest of our lives. Your feelings of sadness will disappear today as you come to appreciate that some people will make only a brief appearance in your life.
